High-speed internet transitioned from luxury to necessity during the ongoing pandemic. Work from home and the demand for stable and secure connections required internet service providers to ramp up their existing infrastructure. And this is where structured cabling comes into play. According to Research and Market’s Structured Cabling Global Market Report 2021: COVID-19 Impact and Recovery, the global structured cabling market is expected to grow from $11 billion in 2020 to $11.9 billion in 2021 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.1 percent and reach $16.5 billion in 2025 at a CAGR of 8.4 percent. As organizations wish to increase their spending on digital infrastructure, they would look for a trustworthy partner who can provide a holistic and robust foundation of the network. One such potential partner that has made a name in the premium segment of network solutions for commercial properties and fiber networks (FTTx) is Alcadon Group.

Listed on NASDAQ , Alcadon have offices in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany. Alcadon offers data and telecommunications products and systems. The fact that Alcadon is both a manufacturer and distributor of structured cabling systems is an added advantage for its clients. The company also offers both copper and fiber optic solutions that cater to the current advancement to 5G and FTTx networks. “We offer a certain point of flexibility to our customers since we distribute systems from world leading manufacturers and have our own product development” says Sonny Mirborn, CEO. “Having a wide range of solutions within cabling systems gives us a certain mix of flexibility and uniqueness that many manufacturers or distributors lack.”

The company has developed its own local structured cabling system in European Cabling System (ECS), today a strong brand in the premium segment in Sweden and Norway. Alcadon has a development team that is focused on solving client issues. Combined with the distribution rights, Alcadon can offer a complete and flexible solution and can identify what the client wants. Instead of providing only logistical solutions, Alcadon goes a step ahead and furnishes a technical solution that makes customers rate Alcadon as being a competence center within connectivity.

This is one of the reasons why one of the Swedish Tech Giants has specified that ECS should be the choice of cabling system across the Nordic region wherever they are situated because they trust the connectivity and efficacy of the system. One of the largest installers in Sweden has also chosen ECS as their choice of cabling system. When a partly government-owned organization decided to move their entire data center from the Netherlands to Sweden, Alcadon was chosen for the connectivity solutions. “The task at hand was to take into account the existing system in the Netherlands, help in the relocation to Sweden, and to ensure a high-end structured cabling system was installed within this data center,” explains Max Lundsten, Chief Product Officer and Head of Product Management and Development, Alcadon. The company worked together with the client and was able to fulfill all the client’s needs. Datacenters is also a fast growing customers segment for Alcadon where additional expertise was ensured through the acquisition of Danish 6X International in early 2021.

Alcadon also has training, certification and offers instruments based on the client’s needs. Alcadon expertise extends to advising consultants on how to structure cabling systems and network infrastructure. The company aims to be a genuinely European player within its core competencies of structured cabling and fiber networks, and with strategic acquisitions, leverage these competencies into other geographical markets. In 2020, Alcadon signed significant customer contracts, which according to Mr. Mirborn, shows ‘a strong interest in the market for Alcadon’.
